Abstract

Background: A natural ingredient used as a natural colorant is roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L. ). Objective: This study intends to identify anthocyanin compounds in the use of roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.). It also aims to evaluate the blush cream through organoleptic tests, pH, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesiveness, irritation, and hedonic tests. Methods: This research used an experimental laboratory method by conducting anthocyanin screening and performing evaluation tests, including organoleptic test, pH, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesiveness, irritation, and hedonic tests. Results: This study’s results indicate that roselle flower extract tested positive for containing anthocyanin compounds. The results of the organoleptic evaluation of blush cream with extract concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% showed a semi-solid texture with the distinctive aroma of roselle flower. The homogeneity test showed that the blush creams at all three concentrations (5%, 10%, and 15%) were homogeneous. The irritation test showed that blush creams with all concentrations (5%, 10%, and 15%) did not cause irritation. The hedonic test results indicated that the 15% concentration blush cream was the most preferred by respondents in
