Abstract

Antioksidan berperan dalam menghilangkan radikal bebas yang tidak stabil dan dapat merusak sel-sel kulit serta menyebabkan kerutan. Dalam rangkaian penelitian ini, kami mengembangkan formulasi krim wajah dengan memanfaatkan antioksidan berasal dari Ekstrak daun Pegagan (Centella asiatica L.). Aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol dievaluasi menggunakan metode 2,2-Difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH). Formulasi dievaluasi dalam hal pH, iritasi, daya sebar, dan stabilitas. Tes stabilitas akselerasi dilakukan pada semua formulasi untuk menilai stabilitas pada kondisi penyimpanan yang bervariasi. Semua formulasi menunjukkan daya sebar yang baik, konsistensi yang baik, homogenitas, penampilan, pH sebesar 5,67-6,34 yang sesuai dengan kulit, dan tidak terjadi pemisahan fase. Tidak terjadi iritasi sediaan krim setelah di lakukan pada hewan coba selama 72 jam yang menandakan bahwa krim aman untuk digunakan. Aktivitas antioksidan yang tergantung pada konsentrasi teramati dengan 6% menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 40.8 µg/mL. Hal ini dapat berfungsi untuk melindungi kulit dari spesies oksigen reaktif yang dihasilkan oleh radiasi UV dan toksin lingkungan, sehingga melindungi kulit dari penuaan akibat sinar matahari.
